A recent study by the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit with the University of Oxford’s Net Zero initiative surveyed over 4,000 entities (all nations, all states/regions in the 25 highest-emitting countries, all cities with a population over 500,000 and all companies in Forbes Global 2000 list) and came to the following observations:

61% of Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions, 68% of global GDP and 56% of the world’s population is operating under some form of “Net Zero” pledge.
60% of entities have established interim targets, 62% have established reporting mechanisms and 44% have published a plan.
Companies with a net zero commitment together represent sales of nearly $14 trillion – 33% of total sales across the top 2,000 public companies.
